A $2,000 award has been made available annually through a gift from the Margaret Ann Joan and William Francis Spring family for an outstanding domestic graduate student studying Oceans and Fisheries, or a related discipline, whose research is focused on the impacts, risks and mitigation of plastic in the ocean.
Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated a commitment to outreach associated with environmental education and ocean conservation.
The award is made on the recommendation of the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
