IOF meets with Ambassador of Uruguay to Canada

Mr. Martín Vidal Delgado, Ambassador of Uruguay to Canada; and Dr. Juan Jose Alava (IOF, UBC).

On January 25, 2018, IOF Director, Dr. Evgeny Pakhomov and IOF researcher Dr. Juan Jose Alava met with His Excellency Martin Vidal, Ambassador of Uruguay to Canada, Mr. Carlos Rodriguez (OAS Uruguay Mission), and Ms. Silvana Montes de Oca, Uruguyan Consul General from the Consulate in Toronto.

The meeting was to establish connections for potential ocean and fisheries research, and to specifically to review a “Cetaceans and Ocean Health in South America: Developing Regional Capacities and Coordination for Mercury Research, Biomonitoring and Mitigation” project proposal, which the group intends to submit to the UNEP – Global Environmental Facility (GEF) and other potential funders.
