Investing in students

To attract the brightest marine scientists, researchers and professionals of tomorrow, the UBC Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries (IOF) is committed to investing in student awards and funding.

IOF offers graduate-level degree programs and student support is critical to engage, encourage, and retain talented individuals who will influence leading-edge advancements in our understanding of ocean and freshwater species, systems, economics, and issues, and provide new insights into how our marine systems function and the impacts of human activity on those systems.

Student loans and summer jobs do not always cover the cost of living, books, and tuition. Financial pressures for students are growing as the cost of living keeps going up. For many students, scholarships, bursaries, fellowships, and prizes are the only way they are able to achieve their academic goals. They are particularly needed to ensure that students from a wide range of backgrounds are able to attend university and gain the scientific and technical skills that Canada’s economy urgently needs.

We invite you to explore opportunities to create your own bursaries, awards, scholarships, or fellowships.
