A full time Research Associate position is available with Project Seahorse, Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries at the University of British Columbia. The core responsibility is to generate and apply knowledge to effect practical change in management and conservation of syngnathid fishes, with particular reference to prompting expert collaboration and community engagement for this taxon. This post involves a combination of investigation, assessment, planning, action, communication and networking. Responsibilities cut across biological research, protected area implementation, fisheries management, trade regulation, and community science.

IOF Mini School Instructor (Marine Science)

The UBC Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries (IOF) is seeking an instructor for the Dive into Marine Science Mini School, a specialized program within the UBC Future Global Leaders (FGL) initiative. This intensive 45-hour course is designed for high school students (ages 15–18) who are interested in exploring marine science through hands-on learning and team-based research. We intend to give those students a glimpse of what it means to study at the university, and also offer an opportunity for career exploration. The program introduces students to fundamental marine research principles, data analysis tools, and ocean sustainability challenges.
