Sunset on Galathea Beach, Great Nicobar Island, India. Galathea beach was once a major leatherback turtle nesting site and home to several Nicobari settlements. The Boxing Day tsunami of 2004 leveled the entire coastline of Galathea Bay, washing away entire villages and roads. Currently, Galathea Beach is slowly recovering and some species of turtles have started returning to nest but no human settlements have been established in the area as yet.
