Robert Peters Award – Society of Canadian Limnologists

Best aquatic sciences paper published in the preceding year by a Canadian student or a student working in Canada. Deadline: A call for nominations will typically be made in early September, and successful candidates will be informed by early October

Frank Rigler Award – Society of Canadian Limnologists

To recognize and honour major achievements in the field of limnology by Canadians or those working in Canada Deadline: second Friday in September

Killam Awards for Excellence in Mentoring (UBC)

To recognize outstanding mentorship of numerous graduate students. One award will be on the mid-career category, another for the senior category. Deadline: mid-September annually

Killam Faculty Research Fellowships (UBC)

For promising faculty members to devote full time to research & study in their field during a recognized study leave. Deadline: September 15, annually

President’s Award for Public Education through Media (UBC)

Recognizes faculty member who excelled at sharing research expertise via the news media. Deadline: September 15, annually

Sloan Research Fellowship

For recent junior tenure track faculty (PhDs awarded on or after September 1, 2010). Deadline: September 15, annually

Killam Faculty Research Prizes (UBC)

For full-time faculty members in recognition of outstanding research and scholarly contributions. Deadline: October 1 annually

Yentsch-Schindler Early Career Award (ASLO)

Honors an early career aquatic scientist. Deadline: mid October 14 annually

Margalef Excellence in Education Award (ASLO)

To recognize excellence in teaching and mentoring in the fields of limnology and oceanography. Deadline: mid October annually

Ruth Patrick Award (ASLO)

Given to aquatic scientists who have made either sustained contributions or a single, but critical contribution towards solving an environmental problem. Deadline: mid October annually

John Martin Award (ASLO)

Recognizes a paper in aquatic sciences that is judged to have had a high impact on subsequent research in the field. Deadline: mid October annually

A.C. Redfield Lifetime Achievement Award (ASLO)

For established aquatic scientists whose work is recognized for its importance and long-term influence. Deadline: mid October annually

G. Evelyn Hutchinson Award (ASLO)

For mid-career scientists, for work accomplished during the preceding 5-10 years in any aspect of limnology or oceanography. Deadline: mid October annually

Raymond L. Lindeman Award (ASLO)

Recognizing an outstanding paper, published in a peer-reviewed journal, dealing with the aquatic sciences, by an author who is no older than 35 years during the publication year Deadline: mid October annually

Charles A. McDowell Award (UBC)

Recognizes outstanding young faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in pure or applied scientific research. Deadline: early October annually

Jacob Biely Faculty Research Prize (UBC)

Recognizes active faculty researcher for a distinguished record of published research. Deadline: early October annually
